Just Granted

Looking for a TradeMailer alternative?

TradeMailer sell letters in packages: 40 for £120, 100 for £285, and on up to 300 for £745. The smallest thing on their price list is forty letters, so a month where the register throws up twelve applications worth writing to costs the same as a month with forty in it. This page prices both services letter by letter instead.

TradeMailer's prices checked 9 October 2026 on their own published pricing page. Our prices are resolved live, every time this page loads. Their figures exclude VAT; we are not VAT-registered, so nothing is added to ours.

The short answer

At 100 letters a month, Just Granted is £123 (£1.23 a letter) and TradeMailer is £285 (£2.85 a letter). That is £162 a month less — 57%.

We are cheaper at every volume TradeMailer publish a price for. The table further down works it out volume by volume, from their published tiers and ours.

You buy the package, not the letters

Forty letters is the smallest thing published
Their Starter package is 40 letters for £120 — £3.00 each — and nothing smaller appears on the price list. The twenty-eight you did not send this month are credits rather than money back, so a quiet month is money already spent that you have to find a use for. Twelve letters here is the price of twelve letters.
The rate falls only if you buy a bigger block
£3.00 a letter at 40, £2.85 at 100, £2.48 at 300, and £2.20 on custom volumes above 200. Every step down is a larger cheque in advance. Ours falls without buying a block first, because the plan includes letters and the rate after them is lower.
Nothing to look at before you commit
There is no published way to see what is happening in your own postcodes before you buy a package. An account here costs nothing and needs no card: look at how many applications and how many approvals there were near you last month, then decide whether writing to any of them is worth £120.

How TradeMailer price it

Five published packages — £120 for 40 letters, £285 for 100, £410 for 150, £525 for 200, £745 for 300 — plus a published nationwide rate of £2.20 a letter on orders over 200. Credits roll over and there is no minimum term. This row carried no figure at all until 22 August 2026: the middle packages were not readable on 19 August, and pricing the row off its two ends would have made TradeMailer look several times dearer than they are at fifty letters. They are readable now. Above 200 letters their own page offers two routes at once and this table takes the cheaper, which at 250 letters is the £2.20 rate rather than the 300-letter package.

Where a vendor sells tiers this table takes whichever of theirs is cheapest at that volume, which is the reading most favourable to them. Where their price card does not reach a volume the cell says "not published" — we do not extrapolate somebody else's prices.

What TradeMailer do well

Read off their own published pages, on the date above.

  • Unused credits roll over to the next month.
  • No contract and no minimum term, and their packages are published openly with a calculator on the page.
  • Print, postage, copywriting and the planning data are all included in the one credit price — there is nothing else to buy.

What we do differently

You write the letter, or you do not
Upload your own letterhead and wording and see an exact preview of the printed page before anything is posted.
Keep as many letters as you have kinds of job
One for loft conversions, one for rear extensions, one for the letter that goes out when permission is granted, with no limit on how many you keep.
One letter is a size you can buy
A single letter at the pay-as-you-go rate, with no subscription and no package, is the smallest thing on our price list.

What this comparison does not cover

This page compares one thing: what a month of letters costs. Both services sell more than that, and these are the parts that are not in the table above.

  • Roll-over. Their credits carry into the next month. Every column in this table prices a single month on its own and does not model credits carried forward.
  • Copywriting. Writing the letter is included in their credit price. It is not priced on either side of this table.
  • Reading the drawings. TradeMailer say they review the submitted drawings to pick the strongest applications. That is work on their side of the table and no column here prices it.

What we actually hold

We collect 346 council registers often enough to publish a page about each of them. That is counted from our own rows, not claimed — every one of those councils has a page showing what we hold and when we last saw it, and the index lists the ones we do not.

Questions

Is Just Granted cheaper than TradeMailer?
At 100 letters a month Just Granted is £123 and TradeMailer is £285, so we are cheaper by £162 a month — 57%. Their figure excludes VAT; we are not VAT-registered, so nothing is added to ours.

Can I try Just Granted before leaving TradeMailer?
Yes. The free tier costs nothing, needs no card and has no time limit: you can search every council we collect, save searches and get alerts. Applicant names and addresses are the part you pay for. You can also post a single letter at the pay-as-you-go rate without any subscription.
How do I check these prices myself?
Open their published pricing page and compare. Every competitor figure on this page is Declared — read off their own published page on the date shown — rather than Measured, and prices move. If one of ours is out of date we would rather know.

Who publishes this

Just Granted reads the planning register of every council we cover, every week, and posts letters to the applicants for you. A free account searches all of it and posts a letter for £1.45 with no subscription. £39 a month adds the applicants' names and addresses, with 30 letters included and £1.20 each after that.
